About
‘Please DO not TOUCH’
Please DO not TOUCH is a collaborative sculptural installation by Eva Payne, Jy Martin and Leon Qin.
As Modernity plagues the now, the definitions and contexts of ‘silence’ have been distorted into an industrial, clamorous appropriation of previous conceptions. As people move throughout the space, they interrupt a projection of nature. As human beings with an affinity for breaking the rules, curiosity makes people touch an aux cord attached to the centred plinth. Resultantly, their attention is shifted to the origins of a loud taboo sound. Industrial metal shards vibrate atop a speaker, marrying with a projection of static as they create a sense of synesthesia. With the cacophony they created disturbing the prior harmonious environment, the audience within the space are brought to epiphany as they realise They Are The Noise.

Discordance
As the audiences touch the aux, they disturb the peaceful scene shown on the left (above) with noise that mirrors that of Modern construction sound pollution.
